In my experience leading coordination "integrated planning" between department & function (subsurface, surface, well intervention, drilling and project team), the key is: - More listen before talk - Technical judgement is crucial, but dont forget We are human not machine. Use proper approach. - Offline meeting/coordination is more powerful thab online. Only by face to face discussion We can capture little detail (that might be the key to get collective agreement).

I believe that enhancing communication between the field and the office depends greatly on the right digital tools and continuous training. In the oil and gas industry, in my experience, we faced similar challenges, and we were able to overcome them by adopting short daily meetings (Check-ins) between the teams in the field and the office to update goals and discuss issues. What do you think about using AI technologies to automatically analyze field data and link it to the office in real time?

    1. Building a Unified Communication Platform: Implementing a single platform for all communication (e.g., Slack, Teams) helps avoid information loss across emails, calls, or fragmented tools. 2. Establishing Clear SOPs: Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) ensure that all team members are aligned on how and when to share updates, minimizing miscommunication. 3. Promoting a Feedback Culture: Encouraging open, constructive feedback helps uncover blind spots and resolve misunderstandings quickly. 4. Utilizing Data Visualization Tools: Dashboards and visual analytics make complex data accessible and actionable for everyone, bridging knowledge gaps.

Bad planning usually leads to bad coordination between office and field. Insufficient documentations such as Workpack, HAZOP, JSA, RA etc are the reason many tasks at the field impeded or not executed smoothly. Other than that, withholding info by responsible parties also a problem with the coordination and planning. All of this will not be a problem if every involved parties do their job professionally and follow the set procedures. Do not hesitate to pick up the phone to call and ask. Better still, meet face-to-face pre-job, to discuss on the work to be done and iron out all the ambiguities. Lastly, keep constant communication from field whenever possible. Most locations now have internet connectivity. Utilize chat apps or emails.
