Identify the critical path steps that have multiple dependencies and also those steps that have the highest risk of unexpected delays and de-risk those steps. Identify steps to start earlier and move out of the critical path, challenge “we always did things this way”. Challenge the status quo, if steps can be eliminated, started earlier of simplified. Don’t underestimate the power of new technology and be sure the team has input into developing the timeline so that they “own” the deadlines and will commit to meeting agreed milestones.
