Its all about having a program in place to manage results each and every day. Collaborate with KOL's to understand why the results are the way they are and determine if action is needed. But keep it simple.....only measure the critical few.

I am a Lean manufacturing believer, nevertheless my recommendation is that in order to maximize lean benefits, in parallel or even better, before doing it, the implementation of efficiencies strategies like ( TPM or Toyota RCA) will multiple benefits.

Automotive manufacturing lends itself to standardization which is the perfect atmosphere for lean manufacturing. Repeatability allows for us to perfect the manufacturing process and create the optimal efficiency as well as introduce automated functions that give us another level of maximum efficiency and in most cases a rapid return on investment. The use of lean tools is maximized in this environment. I've seen none statard production try lean concepts and fail because there is so much change. I have also seen them succeed by adopting some level of standardization.

Quality process Improvement, is the answer to the question at hand. Speed and accuracy and efficacy will follow. Thanks Darrell Knox

I agree but in an automated facility comes the fact you need skilled maintenance personnel that can maintain it. The synergy is only there if both operations and maintenance can work together and accepting that automation isn’t perfect and has failures and when the failures take place both operations and maintenance need to work together to solve and improve it. Too often hands are raised and finger pointing is done…need to work together. TPM.

The lean manufacturing tool TPM must be implemented in the processes area to reduce breakdowns by collective involvement of all employees.

Artificial vision is key to minimize and even eliminate human error and lead to a zero ppm culture. Human skills are required for programming the robots and to perform valuable TPM that keeps dynamic production running. The right synergy between automation and human skills brings the optimal results as far as competitiveness and high-quality standards that should be a given in this current enviroment.

Your job is to produce a quality product first and every time. Then you can focus on efficiency and speed. Quality should be looked at up front. Have you done your DFMEA and PFMEA? Have you identified your critical path? Do you have suppliers capable of meeting your quality and rate goals?

Continuous training at the workplace is a must for all production employees. It requires commitment from both the company and the workers to find the right balance between personal time and company time dedicated to continuous training. After all, learning new skills is an asset not only for the company but also and mainly for the worker that can be of good use for a different job later in life.

Collecting the right data is 99% of the challenge. Being able to pick the data at the right stages of the process makes data analytics much faster, easier and meningful.
