Talk is cheap. Roll up your sleeves and work with them. What I did for over twenty years. They don't respect talkers...they do respect doers.

Work along side the workers, learn how they do the job. What do they need to do the job carefully and efficently. Work several different areas of the line, What works for one area may not for another. Get to know them by name, talk with them on a personal level. Really understand your people and what is needed to benefit all. Brainstorm ideas, listen to the workers thoughts and ideas.

In addition to your recommendations, gather a volunteer team, including individuals who like challenging situations, to deal with the new process. Subsequently, analysis of their performance and the outcome. Thus, at our meeting with the whole team, sharing the report and achievements of the volunteer group. After that, applying the brainstorming process and requesting every member to express their idea for improving the new changes and reaching an agreement. On the other hand, the resistance may stem from problems or obstacles that new changes have caused; and we didn’t estimate them. In this case, after gathering the members’ opinions and collecting the evidence, try to modulate the changes and develop the facilities for our team.

    1. Never go into any working environment forcing your ways on to the line workers. 2. Get to know them and what works for them. 3. See how they were producing their line of work before implementing any changes. 4. Change is good, but it should benefit your line workers and not break them down or belittle them in any way. 5. You're a professional at what you do, and so are the workers who work under you.

When I have several requests for statistical analyses as a biostatistician and therefore for software programming at the same time, I organize myself so that I produce one or two programs per day while advancing in the work at the same time. I also make small programs of standardized statistical tests so that they serve as models to adapt to each study and thus advance quickly.
