The team at Vaco by Highspring are pros at helping companies find top talent and helping top talent show up well. At last week’s site visit, Rachelle Skov and Sejal Chunchu introduced our Scholars to the world of consulting and recruiting through the lens of true industry experts. Their insights into hiring trends, resume strategies, and interview preparation were packed with wisdom from years of experience in the field. Then came the hands-on learning. Scholars broke into small groups for mock interviews and resume reviews with seasoned professionals from the Vaco team: Kathy Bui, CPA, Kiet Hoang, Mikaela Austin, Gabrielle Nieto , and Kimberly Truong. These weren’t generic tips - each conversation was tailored, direct, and deeply valuable. “One of the biggest ways I stand out is by highlighting accomplishments not listed on my resume.” “Getting to ask questions about someone’s real career journey gave me insight I’ve never gotten before.” “How you present yourself to a potential employer really does matter—and now I feel more ready.” Whether it was learning how to reframe interview nerves, structure a great elevator pitch, or think more broadly about career paths, the day left Scholars feeling more confident and capable. And of course, Vaco went above and beyond, topping it all off with a lunch that gave Scholars time to connect, reflect, and ask deeper questions in a relaxed setting. Thank you to everyone at Vaco for pouring your time, expertise, and energy into helping our Scholars grow. It was more than a site visit - it was a masterclass in showing up.
