- So now let's take a look at the next two steps of the benefits management activities you'll need to address in your project. Having first identified and then planned the benefits we now need to realize the benefits. This activity would be first addressed during the delivery stages. This is often as a result of an incremental delivery or a phased hand over, which is quite common in Agile projects. And this means that it will be possible to measure the realization of benefits before the end of the project. In a waterfall project approach benefits may not be realized until the post project stage, where after a period of use of the project deliverables benefits realization is measured. For the scenario provided we have delivered the self checkouts for store one in one stage and will then deliver the handheld scanner in the next stage.
