Buffer’s Post

Transcript

This is the day in the life of a buffer product manager. I start my day by adding way too much liquid to my smoothie, which made it kind of watery and gross, and then I head down to my Home Office. I have my personal computer on one side and on the other side I have my work set up, and this is where my second monitor would go if I had one, but it's in the shop for repairs right now. I usually sign on between 8:00 and 9:00 AM, but today I got on a little bit earlier so that I could get ready for our All hands meeting. Where I would be presenting all Hands is our monthly meeting where all the company gets together on the Zoom call. And talk about our performance and financials and how we're doing as a company. It's a lot of listening, but honestly, it's so valuable and important and it's super helpful to hear what other people have going on. And around this time I've finished up that super gross smoothie I started. And here's our all hands chat. It's always a good time. Lots of jokes going on. Like I said, I have to present today, so here's a montage of me feeling super nervous before I have to present. But in the end, I think it came out OK. Alright, thanks Diego. Really, really cool stuff. I am here to share some stuff from the content creation team. Just some quick highlights. The first one that we have is. So I'm going to pass over to Tammy and the marketing team. All Hands lasts about two hours, which is a pretty long meeting, but again, super worth it. And then after that meeting I spent some time catching up on the Slack notifications I hadn't checked earlier, just to see what else is going on. And around 11:45, I'd like to step out during my lunch break to actually head to the gym. When I first started working remote, it actually took a pretty big toll on my health because I just wasn't getting that much physical activity. So I find if I can get out a couple times a week to go to the gym, it really helps me both mentally and physically. I'm done by 1:00 PM and I head home to make a protein shake. And then I'm back down my office to catch up on some work. We have a new feature going out, and someone put together this really handy guide that we can use to post about the new feature. So I do my part and post about it on LinkedIn. And since I'm already in the social media mindset, I take a few minutes to add some more posts to my own Buffer account. And then, since Tuesdays are kind of a maintenance day for me, I spent a couple of hours reading through our customer feedback, catching up on our internal communications, and checking our project tracking software to make sure everything's lined up. I take a break to grab a quick bite. And having the showers inside stink. And then I'm locked in for a couple more hours and honestly, a lot of my day just kind of looks like this. Around 5:00 PM I log off to spend some time with my kids. Normally I would play with them for a couple of hours and then put them to bed, but I actually have a friend in town so we're headed out to get some food and I forgot to take a video before I started eating, but I got this super yummy chicken. And then I'm back home for a couple hours to work on some of my own projects. I'm watching some Stargate SG-1 to help pass the time, and then I'll head to bed.
