Thrilled to team up with Nikhil Krishnan and Out-Of-Pocket for this hackathon! We're focusing on some of healthcare's toughest challenges—because solving important problems should be rewarding and fun. If you're passionate about crafting elegant solutions to tricky technical puzzles alongside smart, dedicated folks, join us for a weekend packed with creativity, collaboration, (maybe) cursor, and (probably) caffeine. See you there!

Excited to announce our next hackathon...with the crossover you least expected Out-Of-Pocket and Deerfield Management are combining forces for our AI hackathon: the B2B edition. It's going to be from 10/24 - 10/26 in NYC. We’re going to bring together a bunch of healthcare companies to talk about problems they wish someone solved. Who knows, maybe they’ll be your first customers? We’ll have a Friday brainstorming session, Saturday all day hackathon until midnight, and then demo day in the super nice space on Sunday (that’s going to be open to the public!). You can apply here either with a team or as an individual (we’ll match you up with other people). We HIGHLY encourage engineers to apply, it’s going to be a ton of fun. Even if you’ve never participated in a hackathon or have no idea what it is, I can guarantee you it’ll be fun. You'll be fed, you’ll get access to some sick AI tools, we’ll have mentors on-site to help you out. You’ll meet some incredible people who build things in healthcare. Apply below - they’re due 7/28. We take about 30-40% of people who apply, so please take it seriously :). The website will tell you more about the kinds of projects that might be good + what the process actually looks like. [And if you want to be a sponsor, there’s a little form for you too, or just DM me]. Tag a friend you think should apply to this, and if you came to our SF hackathon tell the people you had a good time (or else!!!) More details and application here: https://lnkd.in/epWd9-Yj

  • Deerfield Partner Karen Heidelberger recently joined leaders from academia, industry, and government at #UIDPEurope to discuss how university-industry partnerships continue to evolve.    Karen shared: “Conversations like these reinforce how collaboration between academia and industry is essential for not only translating research ideas into real-world products but preparing a well-trained scientific workforce. It's energizing to hear diverse perspectives on how we can bridge existing gaps and make a meaningful impact.”

  • How does Deerfield work with Columbia University? Over breakfast, of course! Nadim Shohdy, Ph.D., William Slattery, and other members of our Deerfield Discovery and Development (3DC) team joined our partners at Columbia for an info session and networking breakfast highlighting our research collaboration, Hudson Heights Innovations. As Director of Innovation Alliances Sam Galindo (a Columbia alum herself) said, “It’s always great to reconnect with familiar faces and meet new collaborators who share our passion for advancing science.” Hudson Heights Innovation is dedicated to advancing translational research out of Columbia labs and into clinical development. Our team shared great conversations with Columbia faculty and Columbia Technology Ventures about therapeutic development priorities and opportunities for collaboration. • The Deerfield Management team rolled up our sleeves once again to prepare 100+ sandwiches in support of Crossroads Community Services NYC, an organization steadfast in its mission to fight hunger and homelessness in New York City since 1990. We were honored to be joined by Crossroads’ Executive Director, Patrick Bergquist, MPA, who shared how these sandwiches will make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families right in our own neighborhood. Hearing firsthand about the challenges faced by so many New Yorkers reminds us all of the importance of giving back and supporting local initiatives that make our city stronger.
