We are proud to share that BASF Coatings, in collaboration with Renault Group and Dürr, has been honored with the “Trophée de l’Industrie s’engage 2025” in the Innovative Process category at L’industrie s’engage par l’Usine Nouvelle.   Together, we have redefined two-tone vehicle painting with the Overspray-Free Application (OFLA) process. A life cycle assessment conducted using the #GLASS tool shows that this breakthrough delivers: ✅ 100% paint transfer efficiency ✅ Zero overspray ✅ Up to 70% reduction in process costs ✅ 1.6 kg less waste per vehicle ✅ Up to 80% lower energy consumption and CO₂ emissions   Implemented at Renault’s Maubeuge plant, OFLA enables a fully automated, wet-on-wet paint application in a single pass - eliminating masking materials and doubling down on sustainability and efficiency.   “OFLA is a milestone in combining sustainability with industrial performance. From daily mindfulness to fostering a culture of calm – meet April Ellenburg!   In this edition of Beyond surFACES, we introduce April Ellenburg, Executive Assistant for People & Culture, who brings mindfulness and calm intention to her daily work at BASF. Nearly ten years ago, April joined BASF with two decades of experience teaching safety, meditation, and mindfulness. As a certified spiritual educator and Reiki practitioner, she seamlessly integrates these practices into the workplace, helping colleagues find focus and balance.   April’s role is diverse - supporting the leadership team, co-chairing the Mindsets & Behaviors interest group, and leading bi-weekly meditation sessions. A new benchmark for renewable energy at Chemetall Pinghu! Our largest Chemetall production site worldwide, located in Pinghu, China, has been recognized by the local government as a benchmark for low-carbon transformation. The site now runs entirely on renewable electricity - combining 2,500 m² of rooftop solar panels with the purchase of green electricity. These measures are expected to reduce CO₂ emissions by around 2,700 tons in 2025 alone. It’s a meaningful milestone on our journey: Chemetall aims to reach 80% renewable electricity across all sites by the end of this year. Collaborating for a sustainable future IBIS Worldwide Global Summit 2025 brought together leaders from across the collision repair industry under the theme “Shaping the Future: Leadership Through Collaboration.” The event focused on innovation, repairability, and global partnerships, set against the backdrop of Istanbul’s vibrant culture. Roar Solberg, Vice President EMEA of Automotive Refinish Coatings at BASF, joined a panel discussion on collaborative leadership. A vibrant showcase of innovation and partnership at Expo CESVI 2025 BASF Coatings was proud to participate in Expo CESVI 2025, joining customers, partners, and the automotive refinish community for three days filled with insight, creativity, and collaboration. The event featured live demonstrations of R-M’s revolutionary sealers 875 & 876 and the one-coat clear RMC1000, highlighting our commitment to performance and innovation. We also celebrated 100 Colorful Years of Glasurit, honoring the legacy of our iconic parrot, Rudi, and officially launched baslac in Mexico, where simplicity meets performance.
